About Us

boat1webWelcome to the Brooklyn Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association! We are an enthusiastic group of sailors, canoeists, kayakers, and boat builders in Brooklyn, NY, with headquarters at Sebago Canoe Club. We are located on Paerdegat Basin, just a short row from Jamaica Bay and the Gateway National Recreation Area. Our new boat shop is the heart of the chapter, where we are currently building the Point Comfort 23, a  Chesapeake style deadrise skiff, from the drawing board of Brooklin, Maine’s Doug Hylan. This new boat will serve as safety boat for Sebago’s sailing, kayaking, and other waterfront programs.

We hope to present lectures, shop tours, and possible field trips as we go forward. If you are in the NYC area, and would like to come by the club and boat shop, let us know.
